fluffstatus is a free social site for pets. We collect as little as we can. Here is all of it.
If you create an account
We store your email address, and a securely scrambled version of your password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We only use these to log you in.
If you list a pet
Everything on a pet profile (photo, name, species, breed, age, general area and bio) is public. Anyone with the link or QR code can see it. Please don’t include personal details such as your home address.
Location and Discover
We never store your exact location, your address or your city. A pet profile only shows a general area: a state or province (or just a country, if you choose). Pets appear in Discover only if their owner turns it on, and only logged-in members can browse it. If you tap “Use my location”, your phone works out your state on the device itself; your location is never sent to us or saved.
If you post photos
Posts (photos and captions) are public, like pet profiles. Deleting a post also deletes its photos. Anyone can report a post or profile. We may hide content that breaks our terms; hidden content is kept privately and, in cases of suspected animal abuse, may be shared with law enforcement or animal-welfare authorities.
If you comment
Comments are public and appear as one of your pets (or your chat name if you have no pets). You need an account to comment. Comments with links, phone numbers or rude words are held back until reviewed. The pet’s family can delete comments on their posts, and anyone can report a comment.
If you send messages
You can message people when you follow each other’s pets. Messaging is for adults 18 and over. In chats you appear as your pets (for example “Rex’s human”); your email is never shown. Messages are stored so the conversation can be shown to both of you. Nobody else reads them, except that if someone reports a conversation, the site owner can read it to decide what to do. Messages in reported conversations may be shared with law enforcement where appropriate.
If you pet a post or rate a pet
Petting a post, ratings and reports are anonymous. We store the paws and tags you chose (or the pet), plus a random code saved in your browser (a cookie) so each browser can rate each pet, or pet each post, only once. That code is not linked to your name or account.
If you follow a pet
We record which pets your pets follow (or which pets you follow, if you don’t have a pet yet). A pet’s page shows its FurFriends (the pets following it) and the pets it follows. People without a pet are only counted, never named.
QR code scans
When someone opens a pet’s page through its QR code, we count the scan. We don’t record who scanned it.
Who else handles the data
Our website is hosted by Vercel. Accounts, pet profiles, photos and reviews are stored with Supabase. Google handles “Continue with Google” sign-ins. We don’t sell your data, show ads, or share it with anyone else.
Cookies
We use cookies only to keep you logged in and to remember which pets and posts your browser has rated or petted. No advertising or tracking cookies.
Deleting your information
You can delete your whole account at any time from My pets → Delete my account. This removes your account, your photos, comments, messages and follows, and any pets only you own. Pets you share with co-owners are handed to them. Owners can also delete a single pet profile from its Edit page.
